East Oahu homes for sale
Hawaii Kai is probably the best known neighborhood in East Oahu. There are many neighborhoods in this region and they're all worth taking a look at.
Although East Oahu is not an exactly defined region, most of us probably consider Kahala the beginning and Hawaii Kai the end of the area. All of East Oahu is considered middle and upperclass living. Hawaii Loa Ridge is one of the newest communities, where construction of homes began in the mid-1980's. Hawaii Kai has seen a number of new townhomes developed in recent years. Other East Oahu neighborhoods have older homes that have been renovated. Periodically an older home is torn down and a new home quickly replaces it. This land is too desireable to sit vacant for long!

Kalanianaole Highway (Highway 72) is the main thoroughfare through East Oahu. This area also has the best bicycle lanes on Oahu. The highway was widened in the mid 1990's and the State of Hawaii thoughtfully included a bike lane on either side.
The bike lanes are an asset to the island and people frequently ride bicycles along the Kalanianaole Highway, particularly on the weekends.
