While visiting some family friends last year I came across an old book with historic photos taken in Hawaii. I love Hawaii nostalgia - always wanting to know when buildings were constructed, how streets were named, etc.
I borrowed the book and read through it now and then. Here's a sample of some of the interesting photos.
This is an aerial photo of the University of Hawaii, Manoa campus taken in 1924. There are two academic buildings and a physical education track. The photo was taken looking east. The upper building is Hawaii Hall, which was built in 1912. The lower building is Gartley Hall, named after Alonzo Gartley, chairman of the university's first board of regents. The average Waikele single family home sale price was $582,500, which was 97% of the listed price.
Today there are five active listings, ranging from $500,000 to $699,999. Four homes are in escrow with list prices from $499,000 to $715,000.
