Ala Moana homes
Ala Moana is mainly known for its beach park the world famous shopping center and Ala Moana Hotel. There are also many condos in the area along with our convention center.
There's plenty to do at Ala Moana. This beach is one of the best spots for swimming. In the summer the surfing is good here. Some of Ala Moana's surf breaks are Bowls, Courts and Concessions. Other activities include fishing, tennis, radio control mini-boats, lawn bowling and running.
Across the street, Ala Moana Shopping Center has a food court and all kinds of shopping. Further up Ke'eamoku street there's also Wal Mart, Ross and lots of restaurants.
Most of the condos around Ala Moana are luxury priced, featuring fabulous views of the ocean and the city. Several condos are under construction or were just recently completed.
Some of the more popular buildings here are Nauru Tower and Hawaiki Tower. Ko'olani and Hokua are the new kids on the block, both completed in 2006.
Yacht Harbor Towers is a popular property with a convenient location, across the street from Ala Moana Shopping Center and Ala Moana Beach Park.

From Honolulu Airport on the H-1 freeway take the Kinau Street offramp (exit 22). Stay on Kinau Street for a few blocks, then turn right at Ke'eaumoku Street. Proceed straight ahead until you reach Kapiolani Boulevard. This brings you to the Ala Moana area.
To access Ala Moana Beach Park, turn left onto Kapiolani Boulevard, then right at Atkinson Drive (where the Hawaii Convention Center is located) and it will lead you directly to the park.

History of Ala Moana
Ala Moana is a Hawaiian phrase meaning "path to the sea."
In 1934, President Franklin Roosevelt dedicated 76 acres of land along the ocean as "Moana Park." In the 1950's Dillingham Dredging Company created the beach area when it deposited dredged soil and sand on the shoreline.
Ala Moana Center, constructed in 1959, was the largest shopping center in the United States for many years. While it is no longer the largest shopping center, it is still the largest open-air shopping center in the world.
